Jan Paul van Hecke has set a new Tottenham Premier League record for most passes completed in a single match. The defender completed 143 passes in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, eclipsing the 141 Cristian Romero completed against the same opponent.
Van Hecke, who joined from Brighton in the summer, has played every minute for Spurs this season. He also scored his second goal of the campaign in the match and was named Player of the Match.
The win was Spurs' third straight top-flight victory, and the club sit eighth in the table after nine matches. Palace players completed a combined 151 passes across the 90 minutes, while Micky van de Ven set a personal best with 123 completions.
The team's 759 completed passes also set a club Premier League record, beating the 747 recorded at Cardiff City in January 2019. Van Hecke's 143 tops the list of single-game pass completions by a Spurs player in league history.
