Cole Palmer has described Romeo Lavia as one of his favourite midfielders in the world, saying the Belgian remains underappreciated after a standout display in Saturday's win over Manchester United.
Lavia was instrumental in the victory, offering composure and quality in central midfield as Chelsea improved after the interval. He also helped create the opening goal, winning the ball back and feeding Morgan Rogers, whose finish sailed over goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
"Today was one of the best games I've seen him play," said Palmer. "I've said all along he's one of my favourite midfielders, and people still don't realise how good he is."
Palmer later doubled Chelsea's lead from the penalty spot after Lisandro Martinez was dismissed. He went on to praise his team-mate further after the final whistle.
"Obviously he's had his injury problems, but he's trying to put that behind him now and put in performances like today. I thought he was the best player on the pitch."
Lavia, 22, has had his Chelsea career interrupted by injury setbacks and is now looking to build momentum through consistent performances. He has made seven appearances this season.
United created chances before the break, but Chelsea's second-half response proved decisive. Palmer reflected on the performance: "It was a tough first half, but I think second half we stepped up and I'm happy with the three points."
The win leaves Chelsea fourth in the table after nine matches this season.
