David Moyes will equal Harry Catterick's record for most games managed by an Everton boss when the Blues host Coventry City at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Friday night.

The Official Matchday Programme for the fixture is centred around Moyes, with a special cover and an in-depth interview in which he reflects on his time with the Toffees and outlines his future hopes.

"Yes I am proud," Moyes said in the interview with the Official Matchday Programme. "The thought of being the Everton manager who has managed the most games is something I'm very proud of."

He added: "I'm sure Harry Catterick, Howard Kendall and Joe Royle were also incredibly proud [to do this job]. The Club gets you, and if you get the Club – then it's so big."

Moyes, who first joined Everton as manager in March 2002, said nothing really took him by surprise. "I was well versed in football, in watching football so I knew exactly what I was coming to," he said.

His most lasting memory came on the drive in. "I was coming in on a nice Spring evening. I can remember it was quite bright and looking out the windows all I could see was Everton strips everywhere," he said.

Moyes said the experience shaped the "People's Club" line he later became known for. "A lot of people said, 'Ah, you must have thought that up beforehand' but I didn't. It was genuinely just driving in when I thought it."

Moyes is poised to set a new club record for most games managed when Everton travel to Brentford after the international break. "Everton has been huge for me and my family," he said. "That's so important. What is also so important is that I'll always try to do the right thing for Everton Football Club."
