Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca believes the club are going in the right direction despite a summer of major changes. The Blues sit top of the Premier League after eight matches, with 21 points.
“I think we’re going in the right direction,” he said at Friday’s press conference ahead of the Premier League clash with Brighton.
Maresca said City could be ahead of schedule in their transition, though the work is not finished. “I said in the last press conference, after so many years to change manager and many players it takes time to compete again and in this moment we are competing.”
Maresca took charge after 10 years of success under Pep Guardiola, while Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Rodri all left the club. City have also won two of their three Champions League ties and reached the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Brighton arrive third in the table with 16 points from their first eight matches, and Fabian Hürzeler’s side could be targeting more this season. Maresca said the unpredictability of the division is what makes it special.
