Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi says James Maddison is available for Saturday's Premier League match against Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, kick-off 5.30pm UK.
The playmaker was forced off early in the second half of Tottenham's 2-0 win at Chelsea on Stamford Bridge, after playing a key role in the first half.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, De Zerbi eased fears that Maddison might miss the weekend fixture. "This week, Maddison didn't work like the other players, but, for tomorrow, he is available."
De Zerbi praised the qualities the midfielder brings to the team. "He is a special player for us - a special player because he has unique characteristics, different than everyone. Maybe just Xavi Simons is very close with him, but he is injured, or Deki Kulusevski can play as a 10, similar to James."
The Italian also said the team can adapt its shape. "We can play with Marmoush as a 10 or with Conor Gallagher as a 10. We played already with Mateus Fernandes, even he is better as a playmaker, but it is not important I think the characteristics of the players, the most important is to put the players in the right position for them."
Maddison has one goal from six appearances this season. Tottenham sit 14th in the Premier League after eight matches, with nine points, while Crystal Palace are 17th on seven.
