Liverpool FC has officially opened the new Forever Reds Lounge at Anfield, adding a dedicated space for its former players programme and the wider community.

The opening event on October 8 brought together a host of club legends and representatives from local charities that have received funding through the Forever Reds programme.

Founded by LFC in 2018, Forever Reds was established to keep former players connected to the club. Since its launch, the programme has donated £590,000 to support ex-players and charitable causes across the Liverpool City Region, with funding channelled through LFC Foundation targeting health, wellbeing and community care projects.

Former players at the opening included Forever Reds chairman John Aldridge, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Sammy Lee, Becky Easton, Steve McMahon, Ian Callaghan and Natasha Dowie.

Jonathan Bamber, LFC's chief legal and external affairs officer and executive sponsor of Forever Reds, said: "Today is an opportunity to celebrate not only this wonderful new space, but also the incredible community that Forever Reds has built over the years. The success of Forever Reds is a testament to the generosity and commitment of everyone involved, helping to improve lives both within the Liverpool FC family and across our local communities."

Aldridge added: "The new lounge stands as a lasting reminder of the positive impact Forever Reds continues to make across the club and community. It's great to be here to celebrate the work by Forever Reds and meet those charity groups who've benefitted from our fundraising."

The lounge will function as a matchday hospitality space for supporters and, on non-matchdays, as a community hub run by LFC Foundation and Red Neighbours teams.

The next Forever Reds fundraising event is the Christmas Lunch on Friday December 4, which is nearly sold out. Rush, Dowie, Phil Thompson and David Fairclough are among the legends scheduled to appear.
