Liverpool are in advanced talks with Trey Nyoni over a new contract that would reflect his progress at first-team level, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The club have been discussing a deal with the 19-year-old's representatives for several months and are now believed to be close to a breakthrough.
Liverpool chose not to pursue a replacement after Curtis Jones was sold to Inter in August, believing Nyoni was good enough to take on a bigger role at Anfield.
The club rejected a £30m offer from Nottingham Forest late in the summer transfer window. Nyoni has been an important player for Andoni Iraola this season and made his full Premier League debut in Sunday's 1-0 loss to Arsenal. He impressed before being substituted for Dominik Szoboszlai in the second half.
