Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has praised the attitude and versatility of summer signing Victor Munoz, describing the Spain international as "a player with hunger" after a strong start to his Anfield career.

Munoz was central to Liverpool's 2-1 comeback win over Brentford in the Premier League last Saturday, scoring an equaliser on his ninth appearance for the club despite picking up a knock in the first half.

The winger also filled in at right-back after Jeremie Frimpong was injured early in the second period, underlining the flexibility Iraola has come to rely on.

"Attitude-wise, I think he is ready to help in whatever position we need him. He is playing right, left, the other day he played right-back," Iraola said at his pre-Villarreal press conference on Monday.

Iraola pointed to Munoz's background at the academies of Barcelona and Real Madrid as evidence of the player's understanding of elite standards. "He knows the level that is required in those teams," the coach said. "He is a player that is adapting really well."

Iraola also addressed the contribution of Ronald Araujo, who joined Liverpool on loan from FC Barcelona ahead of the 2026-27 season. The defender, wearing No.33, has started eight matches, operating at right-back and in central defence.

"We analysed, we talked to the player and since the first conversation I had with him, I think it was quite encouraging from my side. You see a hungry player, an experienced player, has played in a top club, is willing to show his level," Iraola said.

The coach revealed he tested Araujo's willingness from the outset. "I asked him straight away – 'Maybe sometimes we will need you playing as a right-back.' He was ready for everything: 'Whatever you need.'" Iraola said. "Everything has been quite positive with him."
