Fenerbahce came from behind to beat Liverpool 3-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday evening at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul. Trey Nyoni and Alexander Isak had put the visitors ahead, but goals from Mason Greenwood, Archie Brown and Muriqi gave the hosts the win.
Liverpool, who sit fifth in the table with 15 points from nine games, were missing several regulars. Andoni Iraola made five changes to his starting line-up.
Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas came into the defence, while Victor Munoz, Rio Ngumoha and Dominik Szoboszlai also started. Munoz threatened on the right early on, but his efforts were kept out by Bradley Barcola and Ederson.
Nyoni gave Liverpool the lead in the 25th minute, his first senior professional goal, after a deflected strike from a deep Szoboszlai delivery. Fenerbahce responded quickly, and Greenwood equalised with a deflected free kick from around 20 yards out just four minutes later.
Liverpool dominated possession after the break. Isak headed them in front with his first touch after coming on, from a Gakpo cross, but Brown levelled from an N'Golo Kante cross after a short corner.
Muriqi, a substitute, then headed the winner from a deep ball into the area with a little over 10 minutes remaining. Liverpool pushed for a response through half-chances for Gakpo and Isak but could not find an equaliser.
