Former Tottenham captain Michael Dawson expects Coventry City to arrive at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium full of confidence on Monday night, backed by back-to-back Premier League wins.

Dawson, who made 324 appearances for Spurs between 2005 and 2014 and now works as a pundit on Sky Sports, shared his preview of the clash — Tottenham's first home league meeting with Coventry since 2001.

"Coventry travel here on the back of two big wins in the Premier League — the first two wins for them — so I expect they'll be coming to Tottenham full of confidence," Dawson said. "Tactically, I don't think anything will change from their perspective. I think they'll come and sit in a low block, try to frustrate us, give us a lot of possession and then try and hit us on the counter-attack."

Dawson singled out Coventry centre-back Bobby Thomas as a key threat to manage. "I like Bobby Thomas at the back, a big centre-back, he defends everything, so we have to look at getting the ball down, finding those little pockets of space and threading clever passes through rather than feeding high crosses into the box — high aerial duels, he loves those."

The former skipper also called for Spurs to build on last weekend's draw at Old Trafford. "Hopefully, we can get that first win of our Premier League campaign on the back of a really good performance at Old Trafford, where we deserved more than a point," he said.

Tottenham sit bottom of the Premier League with three points from six games, while Coventry head into the fixture on six points after wins over Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
