Emi Buendía is targeting another goal against Brentford when Aston Villa host the Bees at Villa Park on Saturday, with kick-off set for 3pm.

The Argentine midfielder scored his first goal for the club against Brentford back in August 2021, and the 29-year-old is hoping history repeats itself in B6.

"Great memories," Buendía said, reflecting on that fixture. "Obviously, my first goal for this badge against them, so hopefully I can repeat it this weekend."

Buendía acknowledged the challenge posed by Thomas Frank's side. "They are a very good team, very strong. They are doing fantastic with this new coach from last season. We know it's going to be a very difficult match, but we are preparing well, and focused to try to get our first three points at Villa Park."

Villa used the three-week international break to train, rest, and test themselves in a friendly win over Sevilla in Spain, which Buendía described as a useful exercise ahead of the Brentford clash.

"We had two weeks, it was made very long because it's usual to have these long breaks, but we managed to keep training very well, also to have some rest," he added. "We had the trip to Spain, playing a friendly match against a good team like Sevilla, it was a good test to keep getting better and improving for the next matches."
