Arsenal travel to Anfield on Sunday for a Premier League clash with Liverpool, looking to make it eight wins from nine to start the season. The Gunners are second in the table on 21 points after a 1-0 win over Everton last weekend.

Mikel Arteta said the early stage of the season should not hide the quality of the contenders. "I think all the top clubs are certainly title challengers, and it’s so early in the season," he said. "It’s 14 years that we haven’t won there, so it’s time to do it."

Liverpool, under Andoni Iraola, are fourth on 15 points and have won three of their last four league matches. Their most recent game was a 2-0 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion, their first home victory of the season.

Alexander Isak has been a key figure for the hosts after an injury-hit first season on Merseyside. The Swede has scored six times in his first eight matches, including winners against Bournemouth and Brentford.

On the Arsenal side, Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori have both trained ahead of the trip, while Christos Tzolis has also returned to training. Noni Madueke has not been ruled out after missing the midweek fixture against Fleetwood.

Liverpool may be without Jeremy Frimpong, who will miss the match with a hamstring injury. Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz have a chance of playing after injuries in their 2-1 win over Brentford. Hugo Ekitike, Geovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley remain long-term absentees.

Andy Madley will referee the match, with Stuart Atwell on VAR duty. The fixture kicks off at Anfield on Sunday, with live commentary available through the Arsenal app and website.
