Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 to stay perfect in Premier League

Arsenal came from behind to defeat Chelsea 2-1 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, maintaining a perfect start to the 2026/27 Premier League season with three wins from three games.

Morgan Rogers put Chelsea ahead inside two minutes with a drilled volley, but Kai Havertz equalised on 25 minutes and Martin Odegaard converted the winner five minutes after half-time to seal the derby victory.

"The most expensive English player of all-time" Rogers broke the deadlock quickly, finishing from a Reece James free-kick routine after Jarrel Hato headed the ball into his path at the edge of the box. It was the first non-penalty goal David Raya had conceded in his previous 11 appearances.

Havertz restored parity before the break, driving inside from the right flank and striking low from 20 yards — a shot Robert Martinez got a hand to but could not keep out. It was the German's third goal of the campaign, his sixth in his last eight club starts, and his fourth against his former club Chelsea.

Odegaard settled the match early in the second half, latching onto a clever pass from Christos Tzolis after Havertz dummied the ball into his path. The Norway captain picked his spot past Martinez to register his third goal in four league games this season.

Both goalkeepers produced key saves late on. Martinez denied Bukayo Saka with a fingertip stop, while Raya palmed away a vicious effort from Estevao in the 89th minute to preserve the win.

The result extended Arsenal's unbeaten run against Chelsea to 10 games. Arsenal next face Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday before a Premier League trip to Sunderland the following Saturday.
