Ronald Araujo has called on Liverpool to "give everything from the first minute" as they look to win their third successive Champions League group-stage match against Villarreal at Anfield on Tuesday.

The Uruguayan defender, speaking at a pre-match press conference, said the visitors posed a significant threat with the ball. "They are a team that if you give them the ball, they're going to have a lot of possession," Araujo said. "I think they are the second team after Barcelona to have the highest level of possession."

Villarreal, managed by Andoni Iraola, arrive at Anfield with a perfect record in the competition, having beaten Atletico Madrid and LASK in their opening two fixtures.

Araujo, who joined Liverpool from Barcelona, addressed his deployment at right-back, a position he has occupied regularly since arriving at the club. "I'm not going to deny I feel more comfortable playing as a centre-back, but ultimately it's not a different position for me," he said.

The defender also expressed confidence in Liverpool's broader ambitions this season. "I believe we can compete for all titles we are in this year — the Premier League and the cup," he said, while acknowledging the squad would need to cope without the injured Dominik Szoboszlai. "Dom is a spectacular player... Right now, we can't have him in the side and I'm sure we'll miss him."

Araujo made seven appearances for Liverpool in the current season ahead of the Villarreal fixture. He said settling into life on Merseyside had gone smoothly. "My family is very happy and that's also very important," he added.
